Can I change the specified ratios given in the instructions?

Answer

Yes. For instance if the contamination is extreme, double the strength for a quicker reaction.

Do I have to use it all at once?

Answer

No, but good planning is essential. Work to a pattern so you know where you have started and stopped. The product is fine if left in the spray container as it does not deteriorate when it has been diluted. Plus it will not damage your garden sprayer as the product is not corrosive.

How long will it last in the container?

Answer

Up to a max 5 years and light does not damage the efficiency of the product. But always keep the cap done up tightly and the container out of reach of children.

How long will it take to work?

Answer

It is totally dependent on the intensity of the contamination. If it is really light you will see results within days. Otherwise it may take approximately 2-3 months to see improvements. Your concrete may turn an orangy brown when the MossBoss is applied. This is normal and shows you have had a good reaction. The discoloration will dissipate over a short period of time and is not permanent. The good news is that when you use it again the following season, the clean up will occur within weeks. In the very worst case scenario where contamination is extreme, it may take 6-12months.

How much MossBoss do I need to clean my roof?

Answer

For an average 3 bedroom tile roof with lichen you would require 3 x 5 litre packs depending on the total area covered with lichen. For best results mix the MossBoss and spot spray the lichen, leave for 10-15 minutes and then respray the lichen and the entire roof to ensure the plant absorbs the MossBoss thoroughly. The first application is to dissolve the waxy surface. The 2nd spray will then penetrate the lichen. For green moss and black mould one application is normally sufficient.

Will MossBoss damage an iron roof?

Answer

No. It won’t damage your iron roof at all as MossBoss is non acidic, non caustic and contains no bleach.

Can I use it on roof shingles (Canadian Cedar) which are supposed to last 100 years?

Answer

You will have no problem spraying the Roof shingles with MossBoss as it is harmless to cedar, or any timber for that matter. It will however control the biological growth on the shingles. Apply the product late in the day when the sun is low in the sky to prevent rapid evaporation, and make sure you thoroughly wet the shingles you are treating with the product to get a good result.

Cedar Shingles Bleach will damage soft wood like cedar. If you are staining the timber when it is clean you must make sure that the MossBoss residue is washed off the surface if you intend to do this soon after application as the Mossboss will interfere with the stain. If you’re just wanting to clean the timber, spray with the recommended dilution rate, then let the weather do the work. If badly contaminated it can take between 6 & 12 months to come clean.

How much MossBoss do I need to clean my tennis court?

Answer

5 x 5L packs of MossBoss covers the playing area but not the fault line area which is 4m behind the area of playing. Astro turf on tennis courts takes double this amount. Contact our office regarding any individual application queries you may have or order online here for a better deal on more packs.

If I am on tank water, can I use MossBoss on my roof?

Answer

Sure can.  When the roof is used for collection of drinkable water, ensure that the downpipes are disconnected for 3 – 4 down pour’s of heavy rain or 6mm of rain to remove the concentrate.

What is the dilution rate and coverage area?

Answer

Add 1 parts of MossBoss to 4 parts of clean water. Coverage will depend on the amount of growth to be cleaned. On porous surfaces 1 litre will cover approximately 5 square metres and up to 10 square metres on non porous surfaces.

When is the best time to apply the product?

Answer

Do not apply if rain is expected within 12 hours. Often the evening is best when evaporation of the product is minimal. This will ensure that the surface to be treated stays wet with MossBoss for an extended period

Will it affect my pets?

Answer

Not under normal circumstances. However, keep your pets off the treated surface until it is dry, to ensure they don’t ingest any of the product. If they accidentally walk or sit in the product wash their feet and bottoms with fresh water as a precaution.

Will it damage my plants?

Answer

Not unless you are directly spraying it onto the plants. If you accidentally do this, then rinse the plants down with water from the hose, or better still, protect them with paper or plastic to avoid overspray.

Will it remove the gunge off my timber decks?

Answer

Most definitely! But if your deck is older and has never been cleaned, it may be noticeably blackened with the contamination. In this case, it would be advantageous to wait a month after the application of MossBoss and give the area a light brush with a broom or scrubbing brush with warm water to remove it. The good news is that you should only have to do this once and then the maintenance becomes so easy.
